We were recently fortunate enough to be lent a special edition, Aston Martin ‘Vanquish’, which was produced as part of their 100th Anniversary Celebrations, so we decided that such a beautiful piece of automotive engineering deserved suitably elegant settings, and the first of these was provided by the Ellenborough Park, a Mantis hotel which occupies a stunning position overlooking Cheltenham Race Course, and so is very popular with the Irish ‘High Rollers’ during Cheltenham Gold Cup Week.

Ellenborough Park at Cheltenham Spa

I have written elsewhere in this issue of The Vintage Magazine about the revolutionary Hotelier, Robin Hutson, and referred to his previous Finance Director, Peter Chittick, who, with his wife Carolyn created a stunning Hotel perched on top of a Hill Village in Provence, called ‘Crillon le Brave’.

It was in the summer of 1988 that Peter and Carolyn set about finding a Provençal property to convert into a hotel. Read more…
