DKLM was founded in 2004 by four commercial property and litigation solicitors:

Alan Dixon, Jeremy Kleinfeld, Philip Li and Kiran Morzeria - the founding partners of DKLM

Alan Dixon – Managing Partner, Jeremy Kleinfeld – Head of Litigation, Philip Li – Joint Head of Commercial Property and Kiran Morzeria – Joint Head of Commercial Property. The name DKLM is derived from the initials of those founding partners, and from its inception one of the foundation stones of the firm has been diversity.

DKLM’s strength is in their diversity, and they have a strong expertise in their core areas of legal expertise, including: commercial property law, corporate law, employment law, litigation, dispute resolution, immigration law and residential conveyancing.

DKLM have a number of fee earners and support staff who are fluent in both written and spoken Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay.  The firm can also assist clients in French, Spanish, Gujarati, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. The firm’s commitment to diversity goes beyond the linguistic abilities and cultural awareness of its staff.

One of their founding partners, Philip Li has extensive links within the Chinese community and he is an active member of numerous associations raising funds to support local charities. He has recently finished his year as the President of the London Chinatown Lions Club and this year hosted the largest dragon boat event ever to be held in the UK.

Philip and his team of dedicated lawyers have been responsible for the development of Chinese connections which recently led to the formal association between DKLM and Zhonglun W & D Law Firm ( “ZLWD”)

DKLM are extremely proud of this exciting Association which brings together two diverse but complementary legal practices which will have an international, multi-cultural and multi lingual team of lawyers and support staff with China based offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Taiyuan, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Jinan, Shijiazhuang, Shenzen, Wuhan and Guangzhou (new office in 2012) and representative/associated offices in Hong Kong, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) Lyon, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg and major cities in the US.

The Association, which gives clients and contacts access to over 400 lawyers and support staff with strategically based offices across the World, is committed to providing valuable and tailored legal advice and assistance to clients looking to expand and develop into the China market. ZLWD specialises in private equity, structured finance and securitisation, cross-border transactions, real estate development, investments trusts, intellectual property, Maritime and Energy.

The Association will help further strengthen relationships between China and the UK and will provide a platform for clients both in China and UK to pursue the multitude of opportunities to create and build business between the two countries be it real estate in London to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in China.

The partners pride themselves on building close and lasting relationships with their diverse client base, and understanding their commercial needs. Whether a client intends to expand to China, or set up a new Tech Company they offer commercial focused legal advice at every stage of development.

The firm purchased freehold premises near Old Street (now Tech City) and have since built two additional floors to meet the demand for their services. They have also attracted some additional quality partners, and developed new practices, with plans for even further expansion in 2014.

2012, was a notable year for DKLM’s expansion as it entered into a strategic association with one of mainland China’s largest, and highly regarded, law firms (Zhonglun W&D Law Firm). The alliance provides our clients and professional contacts with access to over 400 lawyers in 12 associated offices.

The association further strengthens relationships between China and the UK and will provide a multitude of opportunities to create and build business between the two countries be it real estate in London to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in China.

DKLM are delighted to announce that a new partner will join the firm in the New Year to open a new private client department to support their growing client base of investor and high net worth clients. The private client department will provide advice in wills, trusts, estate, tax planning and will work closely with our established property team.

This opening of a new private client department marks another milestone in the expansion of the firm. The firm has doubled in size in five years, and as they enter their 10th year of successful business it is expanding faster than ever, especially with the China association providing a multitude of new opportunities for both the firm and our clients.
